"Every house where love abides
And friendship is a guest,
Is surely home, and home sweet home
For there the heart can rest."

I told them so.....

In January, I kept telling everyone it was going to turn to winter come February. We have been having very low temperatures for a week but yesterday it happened!

They predicted an amount of 3 to 4 cm. It started to come more as light flurries but beggars can't be choosers and I was thrilled with even this.

The blackbirds have been here in the last few weeks getting their fill of our crab apples. The tree is almost empty and, believe me, it was flowing over with apples. I have used a number of them on my winter table and friends took some yet still there were plenty for the blackbirds to feast on. I guess all that extra body fat is helpful now.

Because it kept coming down heavier and we ended up with this...

In the end, we had 15 cm of snow. It is subzero C temperatures so that means the snow sticks and will stay for a while as the cold is set to last in the coming week. It is glistening out side. It looks like the glitter angels came by and dropped their wares along the way. *grins*

This morning was bustling in our garden as the birds came to have their breakfast. Jos went out and topped up the feeder in the back of the garden. It was busy with finches feeding so our happy couple - Mr. and Mrs. Turtledove - waited patiently in the neighbors trees next to our garden for their turn.

I do love winter!

The sun is out here and it has warmed up a bit. Sometimes we get snow in Feb. but I'm hoping it's over this year. It is pretty until it starts to melt.

We are on high alert in Essex for some heavy snow and I can't wait. It takes me back to my childhood, when we had many snowy winters and had such fun. I love your photos and look forward to taking some of my own. In fact as we speak 10.45pm it has literally just started snowing.

This winter seems to be surprising everyone! We still haven't gotten much snow, and I am concerned about the water table. I'll just enjoy your lovely pictures!

There's a similar scene outside my windows too, it's really pretty but I'm hoping it doesn't last very long!

I must admit your snow is lovely, even if I am not a fan of the cold. We still haven't had any snow to speak of, the mildest winter I've ever seen. Just how I like it! I'll send you a note explaining what happened to my blog, it's complicated.
