And friendship is a guest,
Is surely home, and home sweet home
For there the heart can rest."

Signs of an early fall...

I love seeing those first signs of autumn's arrival. I noticed it this past weekend when we got out of the car at Cranberry Cottage. You could smell the change in the air in the woods.

Some signs are obvious like the ghords are for sale once again. I could not resist already getting some for my garden...

Then Sunday morning we walked in the woods. We have never gone on the 'Gnome path' meant for children but did so since it was so early and there was no one there.

And look what we found...

Simply toadstools? Or gnomes homes? Oh yes! Gnomes really do exist...

I am not sure the gnome family will enjoy having this visitor though. *grins*

The misty look of dew laden spider webs is so pretty as autumn appraoches. Enlarge the photo and see if you can see the spider webs.

Enjoy your weekend and perhaps look for signs around you that autumn is coming.

Holland has the neatest toadstools I have ever seen. I can just see the little gnomes running around the woods. I always tell George be careful when he cuts the grass. We have some toadstools in the grass and I will be very mad if he disturbs the gnome families.
Have a great weekend at the cottage.
Love you both, Mom

Yesterday I noticed the morning chill in the air. I was just mentioning how it felt like Fall ...

We have spiders webs in the mornings now, a sign of Autumn I fear.
I like your gnomes homes!

My Sis, who grew up in Holland, was always told stories about the gnomes and she still loves them to this day!
We have a few leaves turning lovely colors and falling to the ground already here in PA. I love Autumn!
Your Autumn decor and pics look great Heidi.
Hugs2u!

Hi Heidi
What a lovely place for a walk. No signs of autumn here. It's still in the 90s!! I can't wait for that first day when there is the smell of autumn in the air. Hope you have a great weekend.

yes I agree that we are going to have an early fall, at least in NW FL anyway. Usually August is the worst month for us, one that I dread all year long, but this year it has actually been tolerable with a few mornings that were almost cool - a hint of coolness in the breeze that made me think that we might be getting fall a little earlier than we are use too and this makes my little heart ssoooo happy. I love FL in the fall/winter/spring so when summer leaves us I have months of wonderful seasons to enjoy!

It will be awhile before autumn gets to Texas, unless this is a mighty strange year! But I'm already looking forward to fall decorating!

What great toadstools. I loved walking in the woods with you. I'm glad the gnomes didn't object to our visit.

Is there anything those big, ugly slugs don't eat!!!!? Cute toadstools, know how you love them, and yes, I do spy tiny, naughty gnomes hiding there.....next to the fairies of course!

Early Autumn hugs - Mary.

We went to Vermont last Friday and although the leaves hadn't started to turn as yet, there was a feeling in the air that Fall was just around the next corner. We passed by a garden center and along with hundreds of potted Fall mums, there we also decent sized pumpkins for sale already.

This weekend I'll start to decorate the house for Fall. I'm ready!

Your gourds are indeed signs that Fall is upon us.

Oh yes! Gnomes rule!

Lovely to hear from you, Heidi, and lovely to visit your new blog! I am so sorry to learn that you are not feeling well (I do hope there has been improvements, though, since springtime). But now that we are heading (fast and furious) into your favourite season I do hope you are able to enjoy it. I have decided to enjoy autumn too, even though I always feel a bit sad about the passing summer. But autumn has so much "goodies" in store, not least more time for handicraft, so how could I not look forward to it.

Its a first signs of autumn's arrival. But i dont think the production will go down this year. It will certainly go up.
