And friendship is a guest,
Is surely home, and home sweet home
For there the heart can rest."

Tiptoe through the tulips.....

During our drive to Cranberry Cottage, we pass a couple of tulips fields. What a sight to be driving along seeing green everywhere dotted with the yellow of dandelions or white of Queen Anne's lace and then this.....

The red tulips standing out against the landscape and farm to scream out to you to look at their beauty!

Even in my little wooded garden at the cottage there is an explosion of color where I planted up some leftover bulbs from the year before. I plant up large containers with daffodils and tulips each year to place by our front door. They are then moved into the garden to be left to their own defenses for the following spring. Somehow I got them mixed with the single pink tulip between the bold and brassy red and yellow tinged ones.

"The tulip and the butterfly
Appear in gayer coats than I:
Let me be dressed fine as I will,
Flies, worms, and flowers exceed me still."

~ Isaac Watts

The tulip field is amazing - what a dazzling shade of red! One day I will get to The Netherlands to see this for myself!

You really did bring back some fond memories with this photo! I used to love to drive through the countryside of Holland and just see all those tulips in the fields!!

I know how beautiful this is since I have seen the fields. Flying over them is really a sight to see. I have only been lucky enough to do that twice now.
I love the single little pink tulip standing tall with the brighter ones. I think it is to represent breast cancer awareness. You go little pink tulip.
Love you, Mom

I can't imagine being able to just drive by and see those beautiful tulips. How blessed you are. I love your Make Do & mend Monday idea last week. You gave me some neat ideas.

The tulip field is stunning. I can only imagine how beautiful it is in person. Love the birdsong you have playing in the background.

I can't even imagine how beautiful this must be in person. It's very pretty on my monitor, but oh the vibrant colors you must see! Thanks so much for stopping by. I've had so much going on that there's been no time to blog or do much of anything else. Hope all is going well and that Murphy has finally moved on...for good!

O, good! You are spending a lovely weekend at CC! Enjoy! And I love the pink tulip too, now you to mix them more, through in some more pink, white and even purple. Make a explosion of color!

Heidi, I still check your blog. It's been a long time since we were all on Lilacs, Linens, and Lace, but thankfully I can still visit you and Terri via your blogs. It looks as though spring in Holland is just the way I remember.

By reading the comments on your blog, I realize that these tulipfields are not as common for everybody. It takes a girl like you to show this dutchgirl like me the beauty (hoe schrijf je dat?) of this country! LOL.

That huge blur of red is a field of tulips! Wow, that is magnificent! I have never seen anything like that before.
