This extra wide plank laminate floor will be laid on both floors in the tower. There is currently a bright yellow floor on both floors now. The first floor is a guest area. There is a large bedroom, bathroom and roof terrace. As you go up another flight of stairs, there are two more bedrooms. One will become Jos' office which will be nice for him as he will be away from the rest of the house and be able to work in quiet. The extra room up there is a bit up in the air at the moment. I am considering turning it into a library but we are not sure we want to miss seeing all my books in the living room.
The bathroom is not totally in bad shape. It has white tiles on three walls, a separate shower which you can just barely see in the left corner next to the window, a bath that looks like it was not even used much and toilet. BUT the wall on the left has to be taken care of. The double sinks and mirrors/brown marble wall will be removed. The tub style cabinets under the sinks are really messed up from moisture and we do not like the ultra modern look.
We purchased this sink which is a nice large size and also the nostalgic high necked faucet.
The tiles on the wall (photo below) will look like slate which we thought would be again a good reflection of the slate on the outside of the house. I am still trying to decide about a mirror. I think silver would look best but Jos likes one of our gold mirrors (you can see one of them in this previous post) for this bathroom. I will decide when the tiles are up.
This is the current door which Jos took a photo from the inside of on a visit to take measurements. It is in bad shape. Rather than invest money to do something with it, we decided to have it replaced.
We picked up our knobs and mail slot yesterday and with the door being delivered to the new house on the day we get the keys, we are really ready to start working there now. Our new front door is in the old Dutch style. It has iron grates in the two windows which can be opened seperately. The photo I have shown you is the door but we are having our painted in black high gloss paint. I think this is really going to go well with the silvery grey slate on the house itself.
We decided on the knobs, key slot and mail slot to be in a matt black finish called Black Pearl. We found a place were we could see the door and knobs on display. When the sales lady took our choices and held them up to a door they had painted in black high gloss, I knew it was the right choice. It is subtle and elegant looking.

Ah, the finishing touches! I like the door and the fact the grates can be opened separately. I'm discovering more and more that I love the old world charm of Holland!
Your new home will be lovely Heidi with all yours and Jos's individual touches. Love the idea of a terrace outside the window which if I remember your Mum has said that is going to be her room.

It will be so much fun to see how all your decorating plans come together. Autumn and a fresh start in a new home, both something to look forward to.
How fun! I love moving into a new home and making it mine. I love your door!! Let me know what you decide to do about the books. Maybe you could do a sitting room with just a few of them and then the rest in the living room? Or, if you don't have room, you can send them here? LOL!
Your new home is going to be stunning. Love the beginnings of the new door, and I can't wait until you show us more.
Have a wonderful weekend.

So excited for you! Love your choices!
The choices you made are going to be perfect. And I guess the previous owners would be speechless when the see what could be done to the house.
measurements are done in my kitchen, and in a week I can make the order. There has to be a lot of demolition done before the new kitchen can be installed. Makes me want to disappear for a while..
See you in two day's!
I love your idea of a library in your new house Heidi, and i hope you give us a little tour when you have settled in, i sure you will make it look fantastic :-)
Leuk dat je een "tipje van de sluier" laat zien. Wat een werk om alles te bedenken, te kopen en te realiseren. Maar wat zal het allemaal mooi worden. Sterkte en succes. Liefs
oh, my, there is a lot work ahead of you`! Your interior-decoration-skills are challenged.!
Lijkt me voor jou een heerlijke uitdaging om van een huis een thuis te maken!
LOVE your ideas and decorative touches you'll be doing to your new place, Heidi... beautiful & exciting! :o) Happy Days ((HUGS))
Well first, thanks for the facet in MY bathroom, lol. I like to wash my hair in the sink so it will be great.
Love the knobs. Very nice and the door will really add a great look.
You are right, you might miss the books in your living room, but you have always wanted a library, so why not try it for awhile. As you have been raised to know, you can always change it. Right?????
I can't wait to get there in Nov. and see it.
Love you and hope you are having fun on your trip.

Enjoy your new home Heidi.
That Mozart flute and harp piece is lovely ~ makes me feel guilty that my flute has sat in its case for so long. I've promised myself that I will get back to playing it one day (though probably not while we are living in an apartment!)
