"Every house where love abides
And friendship is a guest,
Is surely home, and home sweet home
For there the heart can rest."

Moving on.....

Just two weeks now and we will be getting the keys to our new house. We are both so anxious to get started. The summer was spent arranging everything we need to work on the renovations of the new house. I thought it might be fun to show the photos that I took for our brochure for the sale of the house where we live now. I spent a good deal of time working on the photos. We had to edit them until they were just right with the balance of accessories and which rooms to use for the photos in our home. Some who have seen our home will miss many things like my various quilts and needlework. We had a woman at the realty office that was very helpful with looking at the photos. We sold it through a sort of DIY realtor. It was sold to the first couple that viewed the house back in the spring. We are so thankful it sold but it means we only have five weeks to get moved out of this house.

The front of our house.

As the house is built in water, the garden is at the front of the house.

We designed the garden for total privacy in the summer even though it is on the street.

We are really going to miss the little garden that we worked hard on making a secret garden.

Come into our living room.

We have a woodstove but had to sell it with the house. The new owners liked our brick wall behind the stove. It was a souvenir from our vacation in Limburg. They are handmade and clay baked bricks.

Off the living room is the dining area.

The kitchen which had recently been renovated.

The office.

Our bedroom.

Bathroom.

The guest room.

The back of the houses are built in the water. These houses are called the 'New Wall Houses' inspired by the original 'Wall Houses' dating from the Middle Ages in our city center.

We have lived here for 13 years. It is time for us to move on although it is only a few streets further.

I love that your garden is like an outdoor room. Your house is very light and bright. I like lots of windows. I hope your move goes smoothly.

Wishing you the best of luck and ease in moving to your new home. Thanks for sharing these lovely photos, as it is always a pleasure to catch a glimpse into each others abodes. I really like the grouping of silhouettes and portraits above your dresser in the guest bedroom. A secret garden, what a wonderful place to spend a few hours. I'm sure you will be creating a fine and relaxing new home, too.
Have a lovely day,
Maureen

No matter how much we've wanted the move it's still bittersweet to leave behind the place that we loved. Your garden is absolutely lovely and I'm sure this home holds so many wonderful memories. It's a lovely home but your new home will soon hold many wonderful moments and memories. Good luck with the move!

Counting day's... in real your house gives a lot of warmth. And the garden was a great place to spend wonderful summer stitching play dates. But we can have lots of play dates at your new house soon!

Your house is so nice, but the new one will be just as cozy in no time at all.
You grew up knowing how to move so it will be fine. I am looking forward to seeing MY bedroom in the new house.
I told you your house would sell right away, and you did not believe me at all.
Love you both, Mom

What lovely, lovely pictures of your current home. I look forward to seeing your new one. I grew up a military brat, married a military brat, retired military, so I have never lived very long anywhere--we've been here now for 11 years, and we have put our heart and soul inside and outside--I wish you much luck in your upcoming move..it is more work to move locally than far away. :)

Thank you for the lovely photos of your home. I never realized that you were right on the water. It is so interesting to see homes that are so totally different from what I have seen.

Cute house photos. Where are your kids, do they mind moving? Adults always seem to be ok with moving, but not the kids!

Hi Heidi,

What a lovely walk down memory lane although some of the furniture is different from when I was there 2 years ago.

I wish you well in your new home and I am sure you will soon have it as cozy and the garden looking so lovely as you have now.

Take it easy Heidi,
Love
Hazel (UK)

It is nice to document the old before going on to the new. The water never ceases to amaze me. The house is really is so very beautiful, Heidi - simple, clean lines, lovely floor. A home that welcomes. I'm sure the new folks will be very happy there, as you will in your new home.

Loved the walk through your "old" house. It looks so elegant. And the garden is a dream garden. But You will make your new house just as elegant and lovely as the old one.
