"Every house where love abides
And friendship is a guest,
Is surely home, and home sweet home
For there the heart can rest."

Sunday sip...

Last year, I did Make do and mend Mondays. This year, I wanted to come up with something different and am going to start recording my Sunday sips. Today is my 48th birthday and could not be better. We are celebrating at Cranberry Cottage by taking a walk in the woods and dinner tonight at our favorite restaurant. It even snowed so I could not ask for more. *grins*

My Sunday sip this week is Dutch hot cocoa with real whipped cream. Pure delight after a brisk walk in the woods. There is nothing like making hot cocoa and it is so simple. Just pour a cup of milk into a pan with a heaping teaspoon of cocoa per person. I use three small sugar cubes for two people. Warm while whisking until the milk is steaming but not boiled. We had leftover whipping cream from a dish I made this week so I whisked it with a little powdered sugar to top our chocolate.

"Announced by all the trumpets of the sky,
Arrives the snow, and, driving o'er the fields,
Seems nowhere to alight: the whited air
Hides hills and woods, the river, and the heaven,
And veils the farmhouse at the garden's end.
The sled and traveller stopped, the courier's feet
Delayed, all friends shut out, the housemates sit
Around the radiant fireplace, enclosed
In a tumultuous privacy of storm."

- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Enjoy your Sunday wherever you are!

Happy birthday Heidi ! I'd be happy to drink this cocoa cup. In France, like in Hollabd, snow and cold and grey, but I like it !

Happy Birthday my dear friend. It sounds like you had a happy day. That hot cocoa looks delicious. It should be chilly and rainy these next few days so hot cocoa will definitely be on the menu. Hugs from CA.

Happy Birthday. It's my birthday today also. I'm not telling my age though. This morning I looked back on my life decade by decade and wondered if there would be another. We had a lovely family party yesterday so I'm just pampering myself today. The snow is lovely. I'm dairy free but I can use soy milk or coconut milk so I might try your drink. It looks yummy. I love your Make Do Mondays and so I'm sure I'll enjoy your Sunday Sips also. Have a wonderful day.

Happy birthday - I have some whipping cream in the refrigerator - I'm going to try some on hot chocolate.

I need to enjoy snow more and "the privacy of the storm".

My biopsy came back benine. No I haven't been tested, but we are just trying everything we can to settle my intestinal issues. My doctor has also changed some of my medications. Next step if this doesn't work is the GI doctor, and then the allergist. I've seen some improvement with the gluten-free diet but I'm still not normal. I think if I could go off of my meds. it would help, but that's not possible at this time. I'm getting the Jeeves dvd's from my library, I saw them a long time ago. They are kind of silly. Some of the British humor is a little too silly for me like Falty Towers and Are You Being Served. You have been making some wonderful things. I wish I knew how to make the lace.

Glad your birthday was good and even snow, my goodness. You told me your package arrive and the sweater fit so I was glad of that. Hope the knitted socks are okay too.
Love you, Mom
