"Every house where love abides
And friendship is a guest,
Is surely home, and home sweet home
For there the heart can rest."

Welcome September...

...and all its splendor! We are having a quintessential autumn day with rain and wind. I enjoy hearing the rain tap on my window and the wind sing around my home. I have been cocooned in my quilt studio sewing the last section onto my latest charm quilt. All those warm colors which also say autumn.

Autumn colors are starting to come alive in the woods by Cranberry Cottage too. The Rowan trees are weighed down with berries at this time of year. I love the folklore surrounding this sweet tree. It is said to protect the dwelling it is planted near.

'Rowan tree and red thread
makes the witches tine their speed.'

A first tiny acorn falls to the ground as the first autumn winds blog...

'Best I love September's yellow,
Morns of dew-strung gossamer,
Thoughtful days without a stir,
Rooky clamours, brazen leaves.
Stubble dotted o'er with sheaves ~
Morre than Spring's bright uncontrol
Suit the Autumn of my soul.'

~ Alex. Smith

May this September bring you many gifts of color. Just go outside and look around....

Autumn is definitely in the air... I just love the colours, scents, quality of the light. I always get excited every time it comes around!
Went blackberrying the other day, that was my autumn onset moment.
You are right, even the weather is playing ball at the moment...

It's falling rapidly to fall here also. I know what you mean about the air being different. We are having beautiful days, blue skys & soft breezes. We have had a wet summer though. I love Acorns, they are so magical. Not sure why, but as you posted previously. Gnomes and the like "do" come near. especially this time of year.

Like yesterday with the strong wind, I love the fall.
Curtains clossed, burning scented candles, work on my quilting projects. Thank you mother nature for bringing the autumn.

Hi Heidi,

I was going to post a new post but found your lovely comment so I am answering you first on that.
Is not it the best to receive new books! I have just ordered a whole lot again of bol.com, after a having a serious talk with myself, really I should not, but ooops, I have already pressed send now...
So, I know how you feel with the order that you had in today.
You asked how I was doing on my reading challenge, actually in a way not too bad. So far I have finished 16 books. So not that many to go, trouble is, only 8 of them feature on the list I posted, new books get in the way you see.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend and that you are having splendid birthday celebrations with your husband. Enjoy the birthday meal!

Groetjes,

Caroline

I've seen acorns on the ground during the last couple of weeks, especially after the severe storms we had. I like to go out and look for conkers too, but have to get out fast to beat the squirrels!

Enjoy the colours of Autumn Heidi.
